Bali Day #2 – It’s Ruther’s 50th
Bali Day #2 – It’s Ruther’s 50th started with a monster lay-in for weary travellers. Well it is Christmas Day after all. Happy Christmas family and friends all over the world.
A rather special breakfast. A spot of shopping for the new arrivals, and off for Christmas Lunch, at our mate’s, Javier @ Kilo Bali. We found my new favourite shop on the planet, Skull – bonkers good, we bought shit loads. Have a look HERE. We bought some food for Ruther’s special brekkie (which I subsequently left in the fridge before we left – idiot!). We then started a rather long walk for lunch – way too far actually – but floods of our trip 10 years ago came back, as it was the top end of the high street where we stayed before.
A rather lovely lunch at Kilo for Christmas. Chill for a bit in the pool in the villa and then step out to a bloody fantastic restaurant up the street. For Christmas dinner in Bali, Indonesia we went Vietnamese. So non-conformist, but so so glad we are because Bo & Bun was just off the charts good. Again check IsLifeaRecipe.net for full on reviews and snaps. Two bloody fantastic foodie experiences for our Christmas Day today. Just a brilliant Bali Day #2 – It’s Ruther’s 50th. Let’s have a look at some snaps then.
One little call out for me – as cool as Bali is, EVERY single restaurant and bar is off the plastic. Great work guys. It’s paper, bamboo and even wooden mixing spoons for cocktails. Loving that. Well done Bali.

Brekkie at the villa – all rather nice and pleasant. A lovely lay-in and brekkie and then off we go exploring – well shopping and eating!

This really is a lovely little private villa. Yeah you don’t get oodles of staff catering to your every whim, but to be honest that was nice as this was out place. Well apart from when a family of 6 or so invaded to change the offerings at the temples on the premise…

This is what I am talking about. We had two shrines at villa, and everyday they changes the offerings, and the dried grass constructions – beautiful things = almost origami like. It’s festival time too – so it is much more frequent.

I asked Jude if he thought the villa was comfy. “Hang on a minute Dad!” – Ahhhh OK Jude I get it – your answers is yes!

A cracking present from Ollie – a mini-hip flask perfectly aligned to our regular Grumpy Old Men gathering that me and the boys still have.

Walking down the street we spotted this amazing tiger and Jude, being cool in his orange mirrored sunnies, demanded a photo. Very cool Jude.

Now that is my kind of Christmas tree. I want one, I want one!!!

Javier’s Bali gaff looking pretty damned good! Bad start though Javier, but came on strong. Top lunch here. Happy Xmas lunch indeed!!! #58 of 472 restaurants in Seminyak is not bad going at all – according to TripAdvisor.

Happy Christmas family Kennett. A very non-conformist Christmas lunch – again guys flip blogs to read up on the food consumed. Suffice to say, it was delicious.

And later in the day – here is us for our Christmas dinner. Loving the new shirt Amy chose for me – that rocks! And my new signet ring from Skull, oh yes. So this was Bo Bun, Vietnamese for Christmas dinner. I tell you what – this became one of my favourite restaurants ever. Everything about it was just brilliant, including their absolutely stellar food. These guys are #39 rating in Seminyak. Amazing! Happy Christmas everyone.

What a lovely place this was for our last evening meal in Seminyak, just so happened to be one of the best ever on family Christmas night.
