Another lovely fun packed week and weekend

Wow a busy one. I take Amy to school wearing shorts, t-shirt, tattoos showing, thongs and maybe a slight hint of Australian accent. Ms Pat approaches me and explains that she’s teaching the kids re balance and surfing, then asks; “Could you come in and present to the kids on surfing?” I’m like; “Eh, sorry I haveRead More

My mate Moy Moy

December 19, 2012

Mary’s family have a pet monkey called Moy Moy. An aggressive little bugger, very territorial and hater of women it seems. So when you first meet him he’s all screeching and jumping off his pole, trying to bite (in fact he did bite Mary), trying to scratch.  Nasty little shit thought I. But look atRead More

Ahhhhhhh Kamala, Phuket, Thailand

December 19, 2012
[zilla_likes]

This was our first time to actually stay in Kamala, on the beautiful Thai island of Phuket. I have been there once when over for Kev Mc’s birthday celebrations and we took some motorbikes to visit, we ate at OhLaLa, popped to see Kev’s mate for a coke, went to see his ex-house and stoppedRead More

Did anyone see this yesterday?????

Yes we had a sun halo in Singapore yesterday 18th August 2012. I don’t think I have ever seen one before. Certainly Mary and the kids had not, so we spent about 15 minutes passing my sun glasses between each other to look at this absolutely amazing sight. Basically a halo is, as the nameRead More

So I get an email from Ian, a great mate from UK. Well positioning first, we used to kick lumps out of each other on the football pitch when we were “younger” (cough cough!). Then I started playing with Brownie, who knew Nina really well through his wife Ailsa (come on you know the story)Read More

In to the car (bit of a wee squeeze) and off to JB in Malaysia – another stamp for DKHNY and Claire in the passport. Another country another day. Really cool this as literally an hour drive to get there, and what a great place and SOOOOOOOO cheap. Family membership for the year for aboutRead More

Anda, Bohol – TRUE paradise found

December 19, 2012
[zilla_likes]

I’ll start with the word to sum this whole experience up – BREATHTAKING! We stayed at the most amazing place in Bohol –  Anda.  Anda is like a biscuit that someone has taken loads of bites out of. Small beach-fronts, private beach fronts, white sandy beaches, coral, topaz sea, topaz sky. Mary’s Mum had hadRead More

She calls our name and we come running, We have lost the voice we listened to, And there's a stillness now the rains stopped falling, And there's a sadness like we never knew, But we still see the shining of things. We love and miss you desperately Ni.

About Brian

I have worked in Telecommunications pretty much all my life, with good fortune to have worked literally across the world with amazing colleagues and clients from Sao Paulo, to Chicago, to LA, to UK, Europe and most recently to South East Asia and Australia.

I love to cook and to write and again for many years now have been writing a food blog, constantly morphing. I have also written a cook book for charitable reasons. I now also write a column for EXMag.sg a men's magazine with a focus on food - recipes and reviews. I do this under the tag-name of Semi-Naked Chef.

I am very focused at charitable work and CSR - having visited Cambodia 6 years running now to build houses on stilts for the less fortunate people there.

I have 3 kids - 2 half-Japanese and 1 half-Filipino.
