Day #7 in the Philippines, June 2019
You may be delighted to know that Day #7 in the Philippines, June 2019 is going to be a rather short blog. Well massively shorter in comparison to some of the previous day’s content. We left the house early doors, so it could be cleaned with AirBnB guests arriving later that afternoon. We shot to the Seaport and got our tickets on the Fast Ferry, dumped the bags and had some brekkie before taking the two hour trip to Cebu.
Jude chooses his attire today, a blend of old an new from yesterday’s shopping.
Sort of a VERY cool Crocodile Dundee crossed with Steve Irwin.
Stay location #4 is The Plantation Resort on Mactan Island, Cebu. Nice and close to the airport, so no mad rush on 29th when we depart back to Singapore. Disappointed on check-in with the place as they announce maintenance work which means the pool outside our hotel room is closed, but please use the spa pool instead for free. Er righto, so I booked a ground floor, lagoon facing family suite so we could walk out into the pool. Now we can walk out into a load fo workmen doing the refurbishment. Yeah, cheers hotel. That’s shit and I have reviewed as such on social. So not a great start to early arvo on Day #7 in the Philippines, June 2019.
We really did do diddly squat today. Checked into the room. Wandered over to get a drink or two at the Alian Abduction family friendly bar, and then popped downstairs for dinner before having a lovely early night. Let’s have a look at the diddly squat though shall we?
It is kind of cool here. 4 lagoons all connected by boardwalks, 4 restaurants, kids entertainment areas, a natural beach, a spa and all the rest. If it was not being re-painted, re-built and refurbished everywhere I would have no reason to complain. The staff were excellent, even with the hotel operating a strict no tipping policy. So here is the gang at lagoon #1. That’s not bad, is it? All sea-water too so no chlorine eyes. Nice.
Take one hammock three times a day and relax…

Here’s the natural beach. Not bad at all. Clearly, lots to do if we had longer here. Diving, snorkelling, banana boat, jet-skis and the like. For us, though we only have time for a photo today. It’s nearly dinner time.
So this is how they divide up the lagoons. Boardwalks interconnect them all. It’s superb. You can also rent kayaks, stand-up boarding and other stuff. It is cool. If only it were all open. Tomorrow we hit the entertainment harder. It’s my birthday too, and I have two interviews to boot. A busy day cometh.
But first, let’s have a drink at that family-friendly bar – Alien Abduction. Jude, on the left, is trying to look like the preserved Alien head, on the right. Hold on a minute that Alien has stolen Jude’s shirt. Twins?
When they said family friendly bar, I didn’t realise they meant training the kids up to get used to being in a bar. Dear me!!!
They look just a little too comfortable for my liking…
