Langkawi 2019 day #2 – #workisover-rated
Langkawi 2019 day #2 – #workisover-rated was another absolutely cracking day in Langkawi. The day started with a nice lay-in and then a spanking brekkie at CBA restaurant on the beach. Yeah, that is not bad right for one of the Meritus places for a chow-down time. Then we scheduled to go exploring off to cable-cars (SkyCab) and the like. Yes, a different day to the last time in Langkawi when we pretty much stayed hotel locked before and after Koh Lipe trip. So this is exciting guys.
Here we go. Langkawi 2019 day #2 – #workisover-rated.

The munchkins including Pingu having a rather nice time beach-side with some scrummy food. Yeah, I’d be smiling too…

Hold on a minute. Actually, I was smiling big time. Me and wifey having a wee Champagne cocktail that I knocked up with some Mango syrup for breakfast. A little Alfred Hitchcock action happening behind us though. You looking at me? Cheers wifey, love you!!!
A 30-minute cab ride from the Meritus Pelangi and we are there. One the way we saw loads of views, interesting things and tons of Macaque Monkeys at the road-side. I think they all hid their iPhones when we drove past as they were waiting for their Grab.

A short cab ride away and we hit Oriental Village at Sky Car ‘base-camp’. Thanks to my mate Kev McCormick for the recommendations. A cracking time was had by team Kennett. Cracking. Let the games commence gang!

A recommendation is to do the VIP booking and get your private Gondola on SkyCab. Basically, we queue-jumped about 100 people. It was worth the additional RM, which was not a lot additional actually. And we are off. Non-glass-bottom on the way up. I don’t think wifey’s heart could have taken it. Oh deary me, it is looking a little cloudy at the top though. Fingers crossed all is OK for us when we get there and here’s hoping the Skywalk is open too.

All rather excited to get to the top I think.

But on the way up what is that we espy. You can walk to this but it is 387 steps or near to that. So I think the kids and I would have been OK but a certain lady maybe not… Ha Ha. Sorry, the picture does not do it justice as this is from the Gondola on SkyCab and it was also covered in wispy clouds.

Here it is a tad closer. Have a zoom in near the top. This shows the scale. There is a bridge with a load of people standing on it. This is HUGE. It is called Seven Wells Waterfall. It is stunning, even from all the way up here in the Gondola.

Here is the view behind us to the beautiful topaz sea and coastline of Langkawi. Volcanic islands, or Tors, dotting the shore and the coastline. Absolutely bloody beautiful.

And here is the view above us. Oh man, this is not looking good. Normally it is rain stops play, but it looks like the cloud might stop play for us today. Bugger!!! Still, check out how stunning this mountainous countryside is. It’s just so beautiful.

Incredible White-Belly Sea Eagles soaring in the thermals way up high in the mountain-tops. We see a shed load more of these and their Kite cousins in a day or so. Read more blogs to see that.

Is that cloud clearing? Shit no!!!

And we are at the top. I think that might be wifey, Amy and Jude? Who knows?

Wifey clearly trying to waft the clouds away, and I am trying to find the view Kev promised (Ha Ha).

I work for Versent now. I sell this stuff!!! Yep, Cloud!!! Get it???

Now to the views. Here we go. To the North is; The Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park. Amazing right? This extends over an area of 4,274 Hectares containing the oldest rock formations in South East Asia. This is named the Machinchang Formation. These rocks are 500 million years old, but boy have they stood the test of time of weathering and nearby tectonics as you can see. The top of Machinchang relates to a legend of Mat Cincang and Mat Raya apparently.

To the East, you get this cracking scenery. Again this is showing off to a certain degree that Langkawi does indeed have the oldest rocks in South East Asia at 550 million years old. You can’t argue with that, can you? It’s amazing, right?

Off to the South now and the stunning coastline again that you may remember seeing from the Gondola. Wow! It is even more beautiful from this height. Check how the sea goes from topaz to darker as the drop-off kicks in. The islands are granite Tors called Pulau Anak Burau. The granite stone gradually got dissolved by the waves giving them their distinct shape. The ones nearer the shoreline are impacted more, can you see? Look closely.

And potentially saving the best to last is the Western view of Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park. Named to signify the period of its ‘birth’ – namely the Cambrian era. Botanists have identified 210 species of flora of which 11 are considered endangered and 27 that were found to be endemic to peninsular Malaysia. A lot of these you cannot see from this stunning viewpoint, as of course, you’d need to get down into that forest there to explore. Species to look for are such as; Tongkat Ali, Kelat Bukit, Podo Bukit, Periuk Kear, Wool Flower and the like.

Centaur of attention…???

We gave up. Not working for AWS, Google or Microsoft we soon got bored with the cloud so we left. The SkyWalk was closed too. Off we go back down to the bottom to find some more, cloudless fun. I tell you I am never eating candy floss again.

Glass-bottom Gondola oh yes. No issue for me, but standing on this and looking down was kind of weird I have to admit. Wifey had near heart-attack at every support tower though. A bloody funny trip down.

I used to have a pen-pal, Jude has a pen-guin.

We just crossed a support tower so this photo from wifey is a little shakey ha ha.

Off to 3D world for some photo caption fun. Amy is always telling tales…

“And you’re gonna hear me Roar, oh oh oh oh oh, you’re gonna hear me Roar…” Sang Jude…

Jude said he was feeling a little light-headed. I said he needs to concentrate on his times’ table, and don’t ignore the gorilla in room…

Since she has her own iPhone all Amy does is Surf… I thank you!!!

Nothing funny for this snap. Just a very cool surf-dude snap od dude Jude…

“Oh no!” said Jude. “I just farted in my divers’ suit.”

A family snap of Wifey, Amy, Jude and Mechelle – I thank you, that’s a pearler!!!

My little angel…Hmmm, behind that cute smile lies a little…

“I am Jude Kennett. Bask in my aura, you paparazzi fiends you. You should be honoured to stand so close to me and feel my power…” said Jude.

“Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down,” said Mary Poppins. I think the 4 Red Bulls and Orange Fanta that Jude had is helping him…

“Wow my armpit smells…” said Jude

“I didn’t know I’d have to do this test to become a FoodPanda driver…” said Jude

“Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” It says on this hammer. Thank goodness for that. Jude can you use it to destroy Frozen II.

“Give me that card. Give me that card…” said Jude.

“Oh man, I only need a quick wee. You sure the toilet is all the way up there?” said Jude.

Femaleficent…?

“I told you to save that for the next ChillaxBBQ mate!” said Jude.

“Wow, my second Gondola today. I wonder if this river leads to a load of clouds too?” said Jude.

“Damn he’s from Somalia!!!” said Jude.

No Jude does not support West Ham… (that’s gonna confuse a few I bet!)

GENIUS!!! I love this photo!!! Jude = mini-me.

And then daughter and I had dinner together and wifey and Jude had dinner together. Go figure. My shots of the food were shit, so apologies Meritus Pelangi I just cannot share them. But it was absolutely delicious. I had the Wagyu beef cannelloni. A stunner of deliciousness. So good. Amy had a good old spag bol. Washed down by some super cold local beverage they call lager here. It’s an amazing substance. Oh yeah, and with this absolute knock-out view from our table. Could you ever tire of this? I don’t think so…

Goodnight Langkawi. Wow!!!
